We firmly believe every child, no matter where they live, should have the opportunity to develop the social, emotional and physical skills they will need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
— Nikki Bonus, Founder, Life Skills Group

Life Skills GO is the digital evolution of the Life Skills Group’s social emotional and physical learning programs which have been delivered in more than 600 Australian primary schools since 2009.

The Life Skills Group was founded by Nikki Bonus in Sydney, Australia, to meet the urgent and growing need for social, emotional and physical learning in young people.

Nikki has almost 20 years experience in health and well-being industries, including as the owner of the successful Yoga To Go School which she opened in the Inner West of Sydney in 2001.  Since then, Nikki has been developing educational programs in partnership with educators, Principals, teachers and child psychology experts for growing human intelligence in young people.

Life Skills GO is a cost-effective response to the limited awareness of social and emotional learning and its benefits, the insufficient prioritisation of these skills, a lack of consensus about valid and reliable social and emotional measurements, and an inadequate supply of social emotional learning programs and products.

Following research and design, teaching and measuring the implementation of our curriculum aligned social and emotional intelligence programs to more than 500,000 primary school students over a decade, we are now looking to meet the the huge demand for online, interactive content world-wide.

Our Challenge

Our world is changing more rapidly than ever before. Digital transformation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are major revolutions that humans face today. How are we preparing our children for this future? What are the skills we need to teach today so that they will thrive in the future?

By 2030 automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence will change what we do in every job.

How are we preparing our children for this future?

What are the skills we need to teach today so that they will thrive in the future.

There’s no doubt that young people need to learn math and science. They also need to learn how to develop the human skills to assert themselves as technology further develops and many of today’s jobs become obsolete.

The World Economic Forum and the OECD have identified that social emotional intelligence will be as important as academic performance in the workforce of the future. Skills of empathy, self-awareness, resilience and the ability to connect with others will be critical.

Yet teachers do not have access to specialist training in how to effectively teach this critical content nor how to measure the impact of understanding.

There is limited awareness of social and emotional learning and its benefits, insufficient prioritisation of these skills, a lack of consensus about valid and reliable social and emotional measurements and an inadequate supply of Social Emotional Learning programs and products.

Our Motivation

We know that human intelligence will be the key to build a confident and creative generation. According to the World Economic Forum, OECD and other international experts, a gap exists between the education needs of our children and what the curriculum currently offers in there is not enough emphasis placed on social emotional learning and its benefits. We are here to bridge that gap. We are here to speak on behalf of our children, to empower our educators and to support parents and carers. We are here to partner with governments and education systems. We are here to address the urgent need to deliver what is of critical importance in education.

This is where Life Skills GO comes in.

Our Solution

Life Skills digital platform will enable this high impact content to be delivered online.

We are growing young minds by emphasising and boosting the social, emotional and physical learning of students. We help students reduce anxiety and build resilience, self-regulation, positive relationships and emotional intelligence.

Teachers will be supported to develop the personal and social capacity of their students including skills of resilience, empathy, compassion, mindfulness and emotional intelligence.

We help transform schools into positive learning environments and equip school teams with the knowledge and tools to properly prepare children for the future.
